A drawn match
Oamaru winners of the Borton Cup final for 2023-2024
Thursday, 20 January 1927

With a deficit of 28 runs on the first innings, Mr H.E. Lawrence's Christchurch team went in for the second innings yesterday afternoon. The scoring opened very slowly, Zimmerman and Keith keeping the batsmen cautious. The first five went fairly rapidly and then Martin and Coffey made a good stand, the latters tally reaching 55 before he was caught by Brooker of Keith. Lawrence played carefully for his 20. The last wicket fell for a total of 172 at 5.30pm, leaving North Otago 145 to get in 30 minutes. As a number of Christchurch players had left for home, the game was drawn.
