Union stayed at the top of the Borton Cup competition with a 98 run win over Valley at Weston on Saturday as the first half of the competition concluded. Waitaki Boys avenged its early season defeat by St Kevin's College with a one wicket win at the College top ground while Oamaru moved into second place with a five wicket win over Albion.

Union won the toss and decided to bat first against Valley. Openers James Cutt(65) and Duncan Drew(65) featured in an opening stand of 149
