Waitaki Boys High School registered its fourth win in Borton Cup cricket and Albion registered its second win of the season when it beat second placed Union in the sixth round of Borton Cup on Saturday in blustery conditions.
Waitaki Boys batted first and in a prolific batting performance made 367 for nine in its fifty overs with player/coach Francoise Mostert leading the way with 125. Nathan Smith added 62 and later contributions came from Jonty Naylor(47) and Tom Hutton(49) and bowling for Valley Nathan Barnes claimed four for 27 and Hamish McKenzie, two for 68. Valley in replay was dismissed for 102 with Dalls Mahuika(42) holding the innings together. Josh Haywood took two for 29, Hayden Creedy,two for four, and Mostert, two for 13.
Albion recorded its second Borton Cup win of the season with an eighty five run win over Union.Albion batting first made 190 for nine in its fifty overs with Regan George(50) Zac Wade(32) and Steve Halliwell(23) the best of the batsmen. Bowling for Union Sam Bastin took three for 34, Chris Saunders two for 33, and Paul Johnson, two for 38.
Union never really got into the run chase and was all out for 105 in the thirty fifth over. Duncan Drew(22) and Bastin(20) were the only batsmen in the twenties while bowling for Albion, Dylan Winter took four for 25, Brady Kingan,two for 20 and Brad Kernahan, two for 18.
