Valley pushed for a place in the Borton Cup playoffs when it toppled Albion on the Centennial Park outer oval in a thrilling finish on Saturday. Batting first Albion made 171 before the last wicket fell in the thirtieth over. A seventh wicket 71 run partnership between Brady Kingan(67) and Kerry Weir(21) boosted the side which at one stage was 89 for six after twenty two overs. Zach Naldrett took three for thirty two, Reuben Simpson, two for 43 and Lachie Kingan took two for eight. Kingan(47) gave Valley a boost early in the innings but the Valley batting slumped to 139 for nine before tail enders Andrew Fisher and Nathan Barnes combined in an unbeaten tenth wicket partnership of 33 runs to carry Valley to its second Borton victory of the season. Brad Kernahan with another fine display took five for 62 and Brady Kingan took two for 62.
The Waitaki Boys High School/Oamaru-St Kevin's game was abandoned because of rain with Waitaki Boys 95 for four with Kurt Thomas(40 not out) the best of the Waitaki batsmen while Matt Murphy took three for 14 for Oamaru -St Kevin's.
