Cricket was called of early in the week after a major down pour of rain over a period of days led to flooded areas of the district.

This meant that for the first time in at least 15 years a Hawke Cup fixture was cancelled in Oamaru, with the game between North Otago and Otago Country called of on Wednesday night.

There was no play in club cricket either as concerns from the local council led to the grounds being made unavalaible to be used for sports.
