North Otago v. Otago (2nd Day)
Matt Machan in action against Southland
Tuesday, 18 April 1922

The cricket match between North Otago and Otago was continued on Saturday, but was not concluded, the game being drawn, as the two innings were not completed. North Otago carried the score to 255, or within 14 of their opponent's first innings total. The excellent reply was largely due to a fine fifth-wicket partnership between Uttley and Zimmerman, who had just over 100 for the stand, before Uttley got under the ball and lifted it so that he was caught, behind the wicket-keeper. Zimmerman stayed a little longer, but had the misfortune to strike a shooter from Galland. Graham and Jones added 50 for the last wicket, and there was keen interest among the spectators in the hope that the visitors first innings would be passed. The visitors gave an exhibition strike, and cracked up the runs hard and fast. Galland's was a punishing strike but flukey, while Cook gave a much sounder display.
