North Otago Fails To Gain Outright Win Against S. Canterbury
Craig Smith celebrates taking 1 of his 6 wickets for the match
Monday, 7 December 1964

A well-compiled 110 by North Otago's K. Murray; a whirlwind half-century by the former Wellington Plunket Shield player, J. Sigley, and an aggressive 59 by B.A. Shewan, who put on 82 runs in a first-wicket stand with R. Bowden (33) for South Canterbury, were the batting highlights in the representative cricket match between North Otago and South Canterbury at Timaru at the weekend.

North Otago, 253 and 171 for eight wickets, led South Canterbury on the first innings, but South Canterbury retains the Richards trophy, as the visitors needed an outright win to take the trophy back to Oamaru.
