Union beat Valley by nine wickets in a game that lasted only 42 overs. Valley, sent in to bat by Union, was dismissed for 62 with Brad Fleming returning the outstanding figures of five for four, while Chris Ware, who took the first four Valley wickets, finished with four for 24.

With Antony Cromwell (38 not out) leading the way, Union cruised to 66 for one in the 11th over.

Albion won the toss and batted first against Waitaki Boys' High School. Albion lost opener Steve Halliwell to the fourth ball of the game but Hayden McKenzie added a solid 46, which included four fours and a six. Albion slumped to 116 for six and 158 for eight but determined batting from Scott Guyton (20) and Ricky Whyte (22) carried Albion through to 183 before the final wicket fell in the 46th over. Bowling for Waitaki Boys', player/coach Stephan Grobler took three for 23, while promising young leg spinner Matt Munro took four for 37 off 9.2 overs.

Albion opening bowler Dylan Winter and Gareth Duncan gave Waitaki Boys' an encouraging start, bowling 13 wides in the first four overs, but with the dismissal of Grobler for 17, the Waitaki Boys' innings lost substance and the side fell to 91 for five after 28 overs. Paul Odell, five for 13, and Winter, two for 28, saw Waitaki Boys' dismissed for 116 in the 41st over .

Union will meet Albion in the Borton Cup final at Whitestone Centennial Park next Saturday at 12.00pm.
