Thanks to a fine effort by I. Geddes in an unbeaten innings of 142, North Otago made a useful showing in its first innings against the Riverina side. Balk and Brown batted well to assist in the obtaining of 251 made in 228 minutes. The visitors own cricket, both bowling and fielding, was of a good standard and the runs had to be earned.
The Riverina side opened well, for J. Brewster and F. Smith had 75 runs on the board before Brewster, who had been the more aggressive, was bowled by Murray.
