Country Week: N.O. Shapes Well Against Southland
The North Otago team that played Victoria at Waitaki Boys High School
Wednesday, 29 November 1961

Yesterday in fine weather Otago Country cricket week opened. North Otago was drawn against Southland and, batting first, made a good showing. Wain of Waitaki High School batted really well and Taiaroa again was in good form, while Cartwright scored his runs by sound and forceful cricket. Runs came at a fast pace.

Southland found the North Otago attack, spearheaded by Cartwright, troublesome, and Halloway, Thompson and Vear were the only batsmen to meet it with any assurance.
