Opening batsman Nick Webster led his side to a Borton Cup victory in the senior club final against Albion at Centennial Park with a superb knock of 103. This came on top of Webster's unbeaten 89 in the semi-finals the previous week. Webster hit 10 fours and 3 sixes in his match-winning innings.
Valley won the toss and elected to bat and Kelvin Mansfield (44) and Webster laid a solid foundation with an opening stand of 97 before Mansfield lost his wicket.
Webster was joined by Jeff Mavor (27) and this pair added 99 for the second wicket before Mavor was dismissed. Webster went soon after but Mark Paterson (22) and Tony Gray took the total through to 232 for three at the conclusion of the 45th over.
Blair Rawson, who was Albion's man of the match took two for 53, while Matt Tait took the other wicket at the cost of 47 runs.
Albion lost Tait, leg before, in the second over but Jason Greaney (26) and Dan Fletcher (21) produced a second wicket stand of 50 before Fletcher was dismissed. After 17 overs, Albion was 78 for four. Albion then lost Peter Cartwright and Gareth Duncan cheaply as Albion slumped to 106 for six. Blair Rawson (63) and Paul Odell (33) raised Albion's hopes with a seventh-wicket stand of 70 before O'Dell was dismissed. Rawson dominated the Valley bowling racing through to 63 before he got an inside edge on to his stumps to leave Albion 209 for nine.
Jon Sinclair clouted a mighty six over the scoreboard before his was dismissed for 14 and the Albion chase ended at 216 in the 39th over. James Lovelock was the best of the Valley bowlers, taking three for 56 of his 10 overs, while Hamish McKenzie took two for 50.
Valleys win made it two from three for the Weston based club, having won the Dick Hunt trophy and finishing runner-up in the senior twenty-20 competition, Not a bad effort for a club that was struggling to field a team at the start of the season.
