The final round of Borton Cup before the holiday break was played over the weekend with a crushing 10-wicket win by Union over Glenavy, Oamaru defeating Albion by 34 runs, and Waitaki Boys keeping Valley winless with a 13-run victory.

Union produced a commanding performance to defeat Glenavy by 10 wickets at the Glenavy Domain.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Glenavy were dismissed for just 52 in 23.3 overs as Union's bowlers ran through the lineup.

Liam Mavor claimed 4/15 from 10 overs, Blake James returned 3/20, Daniel Martin grabbed 3/1 from 1.3 overs, and Brad Fleming took 2/4 from 2 overs.

Chasing just 53, Union openers Jeremiah Shields (22*) and Alex Wilson (32*) raced to 56 in 7.4 overs without losing a wicket.

Oamaru successfully defended 224/7 to defeat Albion by 34 runs at Centennial Park.

Hunter Wardle's 62 anchored the innings, with Alfie McMylor (34), Asanka Gamlathge (36*), Nick Johnston (23*), and Luke Taylor (26) all contributing.

Jacob Davies (3/35) and Aneesh Bose (2/46) led Albion's bowling.

Chasing 225, Albion fell short at 190 in 46 overs, despite Joshua Miller's 67 and contributions from Amal Asok (27), Angrej Singh (28), and Riley White (21).

James Ferris (3/59) and Stephen Grobler (3/21) were the key wicket-takers for Oamaru.

Waitaki Boys held their nerve to defeat Valley by 13 runs.

Waitaki were bowled all out for 187 in the 46th over, with Jordan Horrell top-scoring with 61, supported by Cash Paterson (28) and Henry Wilson (24).

Campbell Fowler claimed 4/23 for Valley, while Cameron Grubb (2/25) and George Mavor (2/41) also struck.

Valley was all out for 174 in the 32nd over, despite Glynn Cameron's 52 and useful contributions from Ben Paton (20), Hunter Growcott (21) and Ben Kay (23).

Harry Mavor led WBHS's bowling with 3/37, while Billy Wilson (2/60) and Jaden Dowling (2/25) provided support.

The Borton Cup will now take a break until the end of January, with the Dick Hunt T20 competition commencing this coming Friday.
